Mephibosheth honoured.

In 2nd Samuel Chapter 9,we saw the heart of forgiveness exhibited by king David towards Mephibosheth the son of Jonathan grand son of Saul, the greatest enemy of David throughout, but God singled out Jonathan the son of Saul to rescue David from wicked Saul. However, observably, David reciprocated the kindness of Jonathan by favouring Mephibosheth the lame man. Under normal condition, a lame man must not come near a king. Good enough, the invitation of Mephibosheth came to place from verse 6-8 and was told not to fear, for he promised to show him kindness for his father’s sake. Here, attention of Ziba , Saul’s servant was drawn to the releasing of Saul’s property to Mephibosheth as seen in verse 9. From verse 10,Ziba and his 15 sons and 20 servants were directed to fend for Mephibosheth by bringing in the harvest so that he can feed/eat. Even if any of them had the intention to take over the property of their late master, David negated it. He went ahead to say apart from the harvest handed down, Mephibosheth the lame son of Jonathan was invited to dine with the king always. From verse 11,David did not look at the lameness of Mephibosheth, but indirectly adopted him as his son qualify to eat with him at the King’s table. verse 13, Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem and continually eat with the king and his biological sons. Findings (1) Jonathan did not follow the foot steps of his father by adhering to Ezekiel 18 principle (2) David had the heart of gratitude like the leper man that showed gratitude to Jesus Christ out of ten. Luke 17 (3) The heart of taking over Saul’s property by his servant Ziba and his sons if proposed, was shattered by king David (4) David reciprocated the risk Jonathan took to save his life from Saul (5)Lame man must not be seen in the vicinity of the king, David broke that protocol. Conclusion:- Kindness is germane for healthy living and security of life.
