In 11 kings 5, we were told a story in that long passage of how God used prophet Elisha to heal Naaman the leper. The story made it abundantly clear that while Naaman was told to go and wash 7 times in Jordan, ignorantly, Naaman saw it as an insult to bath in a dirty river. He was selective to mention Abana and pharpar rivers, not knowing there is power in River Jordan where Jesus Himself was baptized. Not until his servants convinced him to do so. Gehazi also committed the sin of lying against his master Elisha so as to collect the gifts which his master did not collect earlier. Elisha saw all he did to accept the gifts which was rejected. Finally, the curse of leprosy was placed on Gehazi the servant of Elisha for being covetous. This put him and his entire family into life long leprosy. The miracle was performed through Elisha and not Gehazi. Covetousness is an ailment capable of destroying generation. Findings (a) Sometimes, the belief of man may be wrong with God, because with Him nothing shall be impossible. He can use dirty things e.g River Jordan to heal Matt 19:26. (b) Miracles are not for sale as opined by Gehazi (c) The Servants played a vital role in the life of Naaman by giving useful advice (d) Gehazi brought leprosy to his innocent generation for life, they partook of the sin they never committed. (e) Jesus the saviour was also baptized at River Jordan (f) Gehazi was not after anointing, but money. Instead of inheriting double portion of anointing of Elisha, so as to perform fourteen miracles, he inherited leprosy. Elisha inherited double portion of anointing from his master Elijah, who performed seven miracles. Reverse is the case of Gehazi. People of God, let us teach ourselves to be discipline and follow after good example for righteousness. We do not need to copy others for hell. That will not be our portion ijmn.
