In 2nd kings 20;1-7, we can see how God manifested His power in the life of king Hezekiah. I went through the passage and sieved out the following details. (1) The sickness of Hezekiah was not abracadabra, it was real and to bring death instantly, because when God speaks, so He does without wasting time. (2) Prophet Isaiah was the errand boy of God sent to report the intention of God to take his life. (3) The news of his impending death propelled Hezekiah to pray hard again, because it frightens to hear that one is likely to die soon. (4) Hezekiah through prayer refused the message sent by God. In other words, he changed God’s plan concerning his life. This does not mean he has been nonchalant in his prayer before. (5) Something made him to change the negative plan of God for him- his uprightness and truthfulness before God. (6) The errand boy (Isaiah) was again troubled by sending him to go back to Hezekiah. (7) Hezekiah was seen as important before God, because his prayer was heard and his tears seen. (8) Fifteen years was added to his age and additionally, his city will be delivered from Assyria. That was the promise of God. The question now, Have we not be discouraged when something happens to us? Please take a cue from Hezekiah’s method of serving God. God bless you all as you obey the scripture.
